Former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold weighed in on the differences between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Islam Makhachev.
"They’re just two completely different kinds of people. Khabib has a totally different aura, and Islam carries himself differently. As far as skills go, Islam is the more well-rounded fighter — we all know that. He’s very strong on the feet, and he’s a Master of Sport in wrestling and sambo. We knew he would become a champion even after he lost. You could see it in his mentality and in the people around him. It was clear he wouldn’t be stopped, and the way he moved up to welterweight and took the title — that was something really special," the American said on the Jaxxon podcast.
