Bob Arum, co-promoter of the undisputed super bantamweight champion Naoi Inoue, reacted to Floyd Mayweather’s desire to organize a fight between the Japanese and Gervonta Davis.
“Inoue started his career at 49 kg and rose to 55 kg. He is an incredible star in Japan. At the same time, almost no one there knows who Gervonta Davis is. Why should Inoue, who is not up to 55 kg in size, fight with a guy who, by and large, is in the 63 kg limit? This doesn't make any sense. To put Inoue against a 63kg fighter, you have to be a fool, and the Japanese are not fools.”
