Next fight of Guillermo Rigondeaux is not determined yet.
Two-time Olympic champion and world champion in two weight divisions as a pro Guillermo Rigondeaux (20-1, 13 KO) defeated Liborio Solis in Allentown last Saturday and won the "regular" WBA bantamweight belt. Now Cuban wants to face WBA and IBF 118 champion Naoya "Monster" Inoue (19-0, 16 KO).
In the WBC eliminator for the super bantamweight title in the fight of two former world champions Guillermo Rigondeaux (19-1, 13 KOs) scored a spectacular knockout win in the eighth round over Julio Ceja (32-3, 28 KOs). The bout looked more like a brawl than a fight. In the eighth round, both fighters were penalized one point by the referee Russell Mora for low blows. In the same round, Rigondeaux send Ceja to the canvas with a left hook to the head. Ceja was able to rise before the end of a count, but referee decided to stop the fight at 2:59.
Jermell Charlo (31-1, 15 KOs) turned out to be a little heavier than Jorge Cota (28-3, 25 KOs) at the official of weigh-in ceremony before their fight in Las Vegas. The American showed on the scale a mark of 154½, the Mexican was 154¼. Initially, Charlo was appointed a rematch with Tony Harrison for the WBC light middleweight title. However, during the preparation Harrison got injured, and the fight had to be postponed.
Former world champion Guillermo Rigondeaux (18-1, 12 KOs) knocked out Giovanni Delgado (16-9, 9 KOs) in the first round at the boxing event in Los Angeles. The fight ended with a bell at the break and the left hook of the Cuban. For Rigondeaux it was a return to the ring after a defeat in December 2017 at the hands of Vasyl Lomachenko.
