Daniel Cormier, a former UFC champion in two weight classes, has named a condition under which Tom Aspinall, the promotion's interim heavyweight champion, could get a title fight after the Blades fight.
"Can you imagine what would happen if Tom Aspinall just took out Curtis Blades? It would be like a firestorm in support of his fight with Jon Jones. But to turn things upside down, he needs to destroy Blades. Everyone has seen Curtis Blades lose in the past, but if Aspinall runs him over like Sergei Pavlovich, people will lose their minds and demand Tom fight Jon Jones. The fans might start a real riot and maybe that will force the UFC to organize a Jones vs. Aspinall fight."
