Khabib Nurmagomedov, the former UFC lightweight champion, backed Ikram Aliskerov, who lost early to Robert Whittaker.
"This is the sport and these are the realities, no one is immune, keep your head up, champ, your time will still come", Nurmagomedov wrote on social media.
The fight between Whittaker and Aliskerov took place tonight as part of the UFC On ABC 6 main event, ending with Robert winning by knockout in the first round. It should be noted that this tournament was the promotion's debut event in Saudi Arabia.
