UFC lightweight champion Ilia Topuria commented on the fighting style of former promotion champion Khabib Nurmagomedov in this weight category.

"Khabib was not the kind of fighter you enjoyed watching until his last two fights. What made watching him interesting was the fact that he was undefeated. The fact that someone could beat him created intrigue. But the reality is that I was never a fan of his fighting style. Never."
