Covington: "Topuria will defeat Makhachev even in welterweight"

Former interim UFC welterweight champion Colby Covington shared his thoughts on a potential meeting between the current titleholder in his division, Islam Makhachev, and the featherweight champion Ilia Topuria.

"Jumping from featherweight to welterweight is a big jump. I think at 70 kg, Topuria will defeat Makhachev, and it will be an easy fight for him. But at 77 kg, it will definitely be tough for him. He'll have to go through fire, but he likes that.

After all this nasty divorce process, everything Ilia has faced, he will be furious. He'll just want to tear everyone apart. And if he's taken down, he'll get up. I still think he will defeat Islam, even in welterweight," Covington believes.
