The legendary boxers Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather will finally hold the long-awaited exhibition match. This is reported by the reputable publication The Ring citing its own sources.
The fight between the two icons of world boxing is scheduled for April 25 in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Initially, the fight was announced back in September last year, but at that time neither the date nor the venue was named.
Negotiations for the match intensified after Mayweather's plans to have a rematch with Manny Pacquiao this spring fell through. It was then that Floyd returned to the option of a confrontation with Tyson.
For Tyson, this will be a return to the ring after losing to Jake Paul in November 2024. That bout was held under professional boxing rules and was included in the official statistics of 'Iron Mike,' ending in a unanimous decision in favor of Paul.
Mayweather officially retired in August 2017, defeating Conor McGregor by technical knockout in the tenth round. After that, Floyd continued to step into the ring exclusively in exhibition fights, but he did not hold any more professional matches.
