According to the announcement, Canelo will enter the ring on September 12 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he will headline the main event in a title fight. This will be the debut card under the Canelo Promotions brand, titled "Mexico vs. The World", where fighters from Alvarez's team will face representatives from other countries.
Alvarez's opponent hasn't been announced yet, but organizers promise a "big surprise" and a top-tier fight. The event will coincide with Mexico's Independence Day, a traditional date for Alvarez's fights.
Recall, the last time the 35-year-old Mexican entered the ring was on September 13 last year in Las Vegas, where he suffered a unanimous decision loss to Terence Crawford, losing the status of the absolute champion in super middleweight.
