Saúl Álvarez (63-3-2, 39 KO) informed the IBF that he will not fight for the vacant super middleweight world title as he is physically unfit to return to the ring anytime soon.

The Mexican recently underwent elbow surgery, and his next fight is scheduled for September. The IBF title in the under 76 kilograms weight category became vacant due to the retirement of current champion Terence Crawford.

The International Boxing Federation requested information about the readiness of two top-rated boxers, Canelo and Osleys Iglesias (14-0, 13 KO), to compete for the vacant title. After Álvarez's decision, the IBF will send a request to participate in the championship fight to the next ranked boxer Jaime Munguia.
