Eddie Hearn commented on reports in some media that Anthony Joshua is considering retiring from sports following a recent car accident in Nigeria. The head of Matchroom Boxing said that all information regarding the future of the two-time world heavyweight champion will be provided by the boxer himself.

"I think we live in a world where everyone feels entitled to know how he feels and what will happen next. I get calls from the media every day asking: 'Can you tell us about his career?' and I can't believe what I hear. Right now, yes, he needs support, but first of all, he needs to be given a chance to recover physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Whatever you hear about his career, don't believe it until you hear it from AJ himself," Hearn stated.

"I think more information will be available when Anthony is ready to share it. To me, it is a bit disrespectful. I know that sometimes my job is to speak on his behalf, but this is not boxing. This is life, and unfortunately, it's a very, very sad side of life," added the head of Matchroom Boxing.

Before the accident in Nigeria, Joshua had at least two professional fights planned for this year. He was supposed to box in Riyadh in February and face Tyson Fury in London in September.
