Both the NYSAC and WBC imposed suspensions that will end in April and November 2024, respectively. Despite winning against Haney by unanimous decision, this result got overturned because of the positive test result.
De La Hoya discussed Garcia's comeback strategy in an interview with Chris Mannix on DAZN. He believes Mario Barrios presents the ideal opponent for Garcia’s return to action. De La Hoya emphasized Barrios' draw against Manny Pacquiao as a significant feat that makes him a challenging contender for Garcia.
"I think that's the perfect fight for Ryan to come back to," said De La Hoya. "Barrios having a draw against the great Manny Pacquiao is a great thing for Barrios."
