Deontay Wilder won't be fighting on the undercard of the big Terence Crawford vs Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez event in September. He turned down an offer to face Jarrell Miller.
Miller shared this news during a social media live stream. He said Jared Anderson, who was supposed to be his opponent, pulled out of their scheduled fight.
"Jared Anderson has officially pulled out of the fight. We all saw it coming, though, So we're looking for a replacement opponent. I ain't gunna lie, I'm sick right now but we kinda figured Jared was gunna pull that sh*t."
After Anderson's withdrawal, the organizers reached out to Wilder as a potential replacement. But Wilder, who's getting close to 40 and wants to get back to world title level, wasn't interested.
Miller didn't hold back his thoughts on Wilder's decision:
"They offered Deontay Wilder the fight and Deontay says I talk too much sh*t, I'm disrespectful blah blah blah. Yo he's the biggest p**sy I've ever seen in my life. Bro, we're fighters, bro. If he has a problem with what I say, get in the ring and punch me in my face. Get in the ring and try and knock me out. But he doesn't want to take the fight on the 'cause I am too disrespectful, 'cause I talk sh*t. I swear these heavyweights is p**sys man."
Wilder's last fight was a win against Tyrell Herndon, a lower-ranked opponent, back in June. Before that, he had a tough 2024 with losses to Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhang.
Miller's recent record isn't great either. Daniel Dubois stopped him in December 2023, and he drew with Andy Ruiz in 2024. It's not clear if Miller will stay on the Crawford vs Canelo card now.
Miller summed up his frustration with the heavyweight division: "Anderson pulled out of the fight, Deontay turned it down and 'AJ' is being a b***h."
