Bradley, known as "Desert Storm" during his 12-year career, knows a thing or two about tough decisions in boxing. He only lost twice in his career, holding world titles at super lightweight and welterweight. Bradley beat some big names like Lamont Peterson, Juan Manuel Marquez, and even Manny Pacquiao once in their three-fight series from 2012 to 2016.
Now working as a boxing commentator, Bradley didn't mince words about Spence's situation. On his YouTube channel, he said:
"Errol Spence, don't come back man, unless you need the money. Don't come back man, you don't need that man, you don't need boxing bro. Look, you've done enough already, you know, ultimately it's gonna be your decision like Manny Pacquiao, same thing, and everybody else coming out the woodwork looking for that Turki money. If you need the money I get it, I understand it, but for your health man, shoot we ain't no fools."
Spence, nicknamed "The Truth", is 35 years old and has had a tough few years. In 2019, he ended up in intensive care after a bad car crash. Then in 2021, he needed surgery for a torn retina in his left eye. These health issues have clearly worried Bradley.
Spence's last fight was in July 2023, where he lost for the first time to Terence Crawford. He gave up his WBC, WBA, and IBF welterweight titles in that bout.
Earlier this year, people thought Spence might come back at 154 pounds. That didn't happen, and now some fans think he might be done with boxing for good.
Bradley's advice comes at a time when there's big money in boxing, especially from Saudi Arabian investors. He gets why fighters might want to cash in, but he's putting Spence's health first.
Spence hasn't said if he's retiring yet. But with Bradley's strong words, the boxing world will be watching closely to see what "The Truth" decides to do next.
