Las Vegas casinos favor Canelo to win, and he's expected to have the majority of crowd support. But some boxing experts think Crawford has what it takes to pull off an upset.
Antonio Tarver, the former unified light heavyweight world champion, believes Crawford will come out on top. At 56 years old, Tarver's not shy about his prediction.
"HE KNOWS HOW THIS ENDS"
Tarver said this about Crawford's unique ability to process fights. He thinks Crawford has already pictured himself beating Canelo many times in his head.
"Canelo hasn't faced an opponent like Crawford in a long time," Tarver explained. "Weight won't make the difference, skill set will. Crawford has better footwork, speed, ambidexterity, and versatility."
Crawford, at 37, sees this as his chance to cement his legacy. He's moving up in weight for the fight, which some view as a disadvantage. But 'Bud' has sought out this matchup out of respect and admiration for Canelo.
Other boxing stars like Shakur Stevenson, Claressa Shields, Keyshawn Davis, Dmitry Bivol, and Timothy Bradley Jr. also think Crawford can win.
Tarver advises Canelo to fight like he did against Caleb Plant in 2021. In that bout, Canelo knocked Plant down twice in the 11th round. Tarver believes Canelo must be just as active and move as gracefully to have a chance against Crawford.
This once-in-a-lifetime matchup has boxing fans on the edge of their seats. The big question on everyone's mind: Who will lead the division after the fight?
