Roy Jones Jr Reveals Mayweather's Toughest Potential Opponent: "He Knew Better"

Mayweather's 21-year run in professional boxing ended with a perfect 50-0 record in 2017. He grabbed world titles in five weight classes from super-featherweight to super-welterweight and faced off against top names like Canelo Alvarez, Oscar De La Hoya, and Manny Pacquiao.

Many consider Mayweather one of the greatest fighters ever. His 2015 clash with Pacquiao, dubbed the "Fight of the Century," was a massive event in boxing history.

But Jones Jr thinks there's one opponent Mayweather deliberately avoided - Amir Khan. The former two-time world light-welterweight champ faced tough competition like Canelo, Terence Crawford, Marcos Maidana, and Marco Antonio Barrera during his career.

In a recent chat on Ring Champs with Ak & Barak, Jones Jr explained why he believes Mayweather steered clear of Khan:

"Hey, in my opinion the only person that really had a chance in his weight class back then was Amir Khan, he wouldn't touch Amir Khan that time. Amir had two good feet. He wouldn't fight Amir Khan, Amir Khan had two good feet I already know this,"

Jones Jr claims Khan was the sole fighter who could have potentially beaten Mayweather at that time. Despite lots of talk about a potential matchup, Mayweather and Khan never ended up facing each other in the ring before their careers wrapped up.

This bold statement from Jones Jr adds fuel to his ongoing feud with Mayweather. It's worth noting that Mayweather remains a huge draw in boxing, even after hanging up his gloves.

While we'll never know how a Mayweather-Khan fight might have played out, Jones Jr's comments will surely keep fans talking about what could have been.
