Jeff Mayweather thinks his nephew Floyd would beat Sugar Ray Robinson in a fantasy fight. The former coach and uncle of Floyd Mayweather shared this opinion in an interview that's recently come back into the spotlight.

Floyd Mayweather, a Michigan native, dominated boxing in the 2000s. He won world titles in five weight classes and beat big names like Canelo Alvarez, Oscar De La Hoya, and Manny Pacquiao. Floyd retired with a perfect 50-0 record after beating MMA fighter Conor McGregor in 2017. Since then, he's had exhibition matches against Logan Paul and Aaron Chalmers.

Sugar Ray Robinson was a force in the 1940s and 50s. He held the world welterweight title from 1946 to 1951 and was a five-time world middleweight champion over nine years.

People often debate who ranks higher in boxing history between Mayweather and Robinson. Jeff Mayweather weighed in on this debate in an interview with Stitch Duran. He said he'd pick Floyd to win, and it's not just because they're related.

I'll pick Floyd. I'm gonna be honest, I'm not caught up in Ray Robinson because the numbers and like everything like everybody else, I mean to me what I seen wasn't nothing that special, it was a guy that had fast hands, could punch a little bit but swung a bunch of wild punches.

Jeff Mayweather went on to explain his reasoning:

But don't get me wrong of course you can't deny his record and the things that he achieved but at the same time that style to me compared to what Floyd would do wrong and I mean that's the thing is that when you take fighters in that time in that era, it's not the same, the skill levels gotten better and a whole lot of things have gotten better, of course I would go with Floyd and not because he's my nephew.

Jeff Mayweather believes boxing skills have improved over time. He thinks Robinson's style wouldn't work as well against Floyd's approach.

It's worth noting that Jeff was part of Floyd's team early in his career, but he was never the head trainer. While Floyd has officially retired from professional boxing, he continues to make headlines with his exhibition matches and predictions like this one from his uncle keep fans talking about his legacy.
