Floyd Mayweather Jr has opened up about Manny Pacquiao's punching power as the Filipino boxing legend gets ready to return to the ring.

Pacquiao, now 46, is set to face Mario Barrios for the WBC world welterweight championship on July 19 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. This comeback follows his retirement announcement in 2021, which came months after his defeat by Yordenis Ugas.

Mayweather, also 46 and retired with a perfect 50-0 record, shared his thoughts on Pacquiao's power in a recent YouTube interview. The man known as "Money" said:

"Pacquiao obviously got power also, you know I've been in there with him. He's solid, he's solid, it ain't nothing I've never felt before but he's solid."

Mayweather added that the respect was mutual:

"He felt me too that's why he wasn't quick to run in there, so it's obvious we both felt each other."

These comments bring back memories of their 2013 clash, dubbed "The Fight of The Century." Mayweather won by unanimous decision, but the bout didn't live up to the massive hype surrounding it.

Mayweather hung up his gloves in 2017 after a comprehensive victory over MMA legend Conor McGregor. Now, it's Pacquiao's turn to step back into the spotlight. The eight-division world champion will try to prove he's still got what it takes against Barrios next month.
