Mike Tyson just won a cool million bucks from Jake Paul. The two boxing figures had a friendly wager on the Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano fight, and Tyson's pick came out on top.
During fight week, Tyson and Paul got on a video call and decided to spice things up. Paul backed Serrano, while Tyson put his faith in Taylor. They agreed to bet a million dollars on the outcome. Paul even threw in a dinner date if he lost.
"I've got Katie," Tyson said confidently.
"I've got Amanda, do you wanna bet?" Paul responded.
"Alright, we'll make a bet! If Katie wins, then you get $1 million, if Amanda wins, then I get $1 million," Paul proposed.
Tyson agreed and added, "I like that! Then you've got to take me out to dinner too."
"Alright, I'll take you out for dinner. I'll take you on a date," Paul conceded.
The fight went down on Friday night at Madison Square Garden. Taylor and Serrano had already faced off twice before in action-packed bouts. This time, though, Taylor switched up her game plan.
Instead of getting into long exchanges, Taylor used her footwork and ring smarts. She controlled the pace, dodged Serrano's power shots, and kept landing clean punches. It wasn't the slugfest fans had seen before - the fighters landed 140 punches total, way less than their last fight.
Taylor's strategy paid off. The judges gave her the win by majority decision, letting her keep her undisputed super lightweight title. It looks like Taylor's got Serrano's number in the ring.
Now Tyson's a million bucks richer, and he's got a dinner date with Jake Paul to look forward to. Paul took the loss in stride, even complimenting the fight.
