Fresh off a dominant win over Arslanbek Makhmudov at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, former heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury said he no longer sees a reason to keep boxing if he does not get a fight with Anthony Joshua.
Fresh off a dominant win over Arslanbek Makhmudov at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, Tyson Fury made it clear that only one fight still motivates him: Anthony Joshua. According to Fury, if Joshua is not next, he has little interest in continuing his career.
“Here’s the thing: if the next fight isn’t Anthony Joshua, then boxing doesn’t interest me anymore. I’ll eat a thousand Easter eggs and get fat up to 220 kilograms. I’ll walk away — I won’t care anymore,” the “Gypsy King” said emotionally.
Fury stressed that he has no interest in rising contenders, rankings, or interim titles.
“This is the defining fight for British boxing. It either happens or it doesn’t. Joshua has his own problems — we all do. I tried to kill myself before, I was one step away from a mental hospital, but I got through it. Everybody has problems. Unfortunately, that’s life. If you’re in this game, then you’re either a boxer or you’re not,” Fury added.
