Oleksandr Usyk Reveals Surprising Twist in Tyson Fury Trilogy Talks: "It's Not About the Belt"

Fury took to Instagram to announce the potential matchup, despite having lost his previous two bouts against Usyk in 2024. The former heavyweight champ had announced his retirement in January, but it seems he's not done with the ring just yet.

Turki Alalshikh, who heads up Saudi Arabia's General Entertainment Authority, has also chimed in, saying Fury will make his comeback in 2026.

Team Usyk isn't ruling out the trilogy. Sergey Lapin, director of Team Usyk, said:

"The idea of a third fight with Tyson Fury has been on the table between our teams since their second fight. And I have never had any doubt that, together with Goldstar Promotions, we could make it happen."

But right now, Usyk's got other fish to fry. He's gearing up to face Daniel Dubois on July 19 at Wembley, with the undisputed heavyweight title on the line.

Fury's not shy about his reasons for wanting another go at Usyk. He told the media:

"Who would I rather fight right now? Usyk. Because I want my rematch in England. That's all I want. I want a fair shot and I don't think I've had it the last two times."

But Fury's got a backup plan if the Usyk fight falls through. He's eyeing a potential clash with Anthony Joshua, saying:

"If I don't get it, then it would be against Joshua, the biggest British fight in history. It would break records and sell out 100,000 seats at Wembley in an hour. It's a fight I think can definitely happen if I decide to come back and if the deal is right."

While Fury's looking for redemption, Usyk's got his own goal: becoming a three-time undisputed world champion. With both fighters having plenty to prove, this potential trilogy bout could be one for the history books.
