This fight is a big deal. Crawford wants to be the first male boxer to hold all the belts in three different weight classes. It's a tough challenge for him, as he's moving up two weight classes to fight Canelo.
Canelo is the current champion in the super-middleweight division. He recently won a fight against William Scull, but some people weren't impressed with how he performed. ESPN reported that Alvarez was declared the winner against former IBF super-middleweight champion William Scull last month.
Crawford, nicknamed 'Bud', is 37 years old and comes from Omaha. He's spent most of his career as a welterweight but recently moved up to super-welterweight. In August, he beat Israil Madrimov for the WBA title at 154 pounds.
Roberto Duran, a boxing legend who won world titles in multiple weight classes, shared his thoughts on the fight. In an interview with Fight Hub TV, Duran said:
"It's a tough fight, but it depends on how he [Crawford] comes in, he needs to box and brawl, keep confusing Canelo. Brawl, then box when Canelo expects a brawl. Next round, box when he expects you to brawl. Keep him confused and you can win the fight vs Canelo."
Duran thinks Crawford needs to keep changing his style to confuse Canelo. He suggests Crawford should switch between boxing and brawling to keep Canelo guessing.
This fight will be the hardest test of Crawford's career so far. He's jumping up two whole weight classes to face Canelo, which makes it even more challenging.
The boxing world is eager to see how this match will play out. Will Crawford's strategy work against Canelo? Or will Canelo's experience at this weight class give him the edge? We'll find out on September 13 in Las Vegas.
