Carl Froch, the former super middleweight champion, has received a surprising challenge from MMA fighter Darren Till for a comeback fight. Till believes he can beat Froch, who's been retired for over a decade.
Froch, nicknamed 'The Cobra', was one of the most accomplished fighters of his generation. He held several belts on many occasions and was known for his granite chin and heavy shots. His most famous fights were against George Groves, including a rematch at Wembley Stadium in May 2014 where Froch won with an impressive one-punch knockout.
Even though he's been out of the ring for years, Froch stays active in the boxing world through media appearances and social media. He often talks about making a comeback and gets into online arguments with current and former fighters.
Till, who recently won a unanimous decision over Darren Stewart in May, called out Froch during an interview with iFL TV.
"100%. If I was to fight Carl Froch at boxing, as I've said, be a terrible night for both of us. I strongly believe I would beat him if I could get the weight on the money correctly. I'm not saying anything other than I understand what a tough night it'd be for me, I really do. I'd need a 12-week camp for Carl Froch if it was going to become a reality."
Till has a mixed martial arts record of 18 wins (10 by knockout) and 5 losses in 24 fights. He's faced tough opponents like Tyron Woodley and Jorge Masvidal in his career.
A fight between Froch and Till would get a lot of attention. The two have exchanged heated words on social media before, adding more interest to a potential matchup.
Till's recent victory over Stewart shows he's still competitive, but facing a boxer of Froch's caliber would be a huge challenge. Froch's last professional fight was that memorable win over Groves at Wembley, capping off a career that included many tough battles.
