Mike Tyson might step into the ring again at 58 years old. The former heavyweight champ got an offer to fight in December, even after his poor showing against Jake Paul.
Tyson's last fight didn't go well. He faced Jake Paul in November in Arlington, Texas. Paul, who's half Tyson's age and has way less experience, beat him easily over eight rounds. Tyson barely landed any punches.
After losing twice in a row back in 2005, Tyson hung up his gloves. He said he'd never fight again after the Paul match. But now, a new offer's on the table.
The Alash Pride League, a combat sports group from Kazakhstan, wants to set up a fight. APL President Alimzhan Bektaev told reporters:
"We are planning a bout between Mike Tyson and Fedor Emelianenko. Work in this direction is already underway. The tournament, where we want to invite Mike Tyson, is scheduled for December."
Fedor Emelianenko, the proposed opponent, is 48 years old. He's a big name in MMA, having held the PRIDE heavyweight title and won four world championships in combat sambo. Emelianenko started fighting in 2000 and beat stars like Mirko Cro Cop, Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira, Mark Coleman, and Andrei Arlovski.
Emelianenko retired in 2023 after losing to Ryan Bader by TKO in the first round. But he's shown interest in boxing. He said after retiring:
"I want to try my hand at boxing, I think it will be interesting. I watched the fight between Roy Jones and Mike Tyson, I would like to fight him. He has a big name, and he is a legend."
Tyson, known as "Iron Mike," made history as the youngest ever heavyweight world champion. But at 58, and after his last performance, it's hard to say if he'll take this fight. We'll have to wait and see if it actually happens.
