Chris Eubank Sr Teases Ring Return, But Only If One Opponent Steps Up: "The Fire Still Burns"

Eubank Sr ruled as world champion for over five years and stayed undefeated for his first decade in the sport. His legendary wins over Nigel Benn and Michael Watson helped boxing ride a wave of popularity in the UK. He hung up his gloves in 1998 after two losses to Carl Thompson and one to Joe Calzaghe.

Now, at 58, Eubank Sr says he'll step back in the ring for an exhibition match if his son fights again. He explained his reasoning on his YouTube channel:

"If you don't get back into the ring Jr, then neither will I. But if you get back in the ring, I will get back in the ring in some exhibition match. I'm going to pressure you. You want to fight again? OK, then I will fight too. Cause I'm with you."

This comes after Eubank Jr's victory over Conor Benn in April 2023. The fight continued a family legacy, as Eubank Sr and Nigel Benn (Conor's father) had their own legendary battles in the past.

Eubank Jr seems to favor a rematch with Benn over anything else and isn't thinking about retirement. His father, on the other hand, believes he doesn't need to do anything else and will never top that performance.

The boxing business being what it is, Eubank Sr wouldn't struggle to find offers for exhibition contests. But many fans would prefer to see him stay retired, keeping his legacy intact.

It's a tricky situation for both Eubanks. The son wants to continue his career, while the father is using an unexpected tactic to try and change his mind. We'll have to wait and see how this family drama plays out in and out of the ring.
