Anderson Silva Reveals Surprising Power Comparison Between Jake Paul and Julio Chavez Jr: "I Was Shocked"

Paul's last fight was a unanimous decision victory over Mike Tyson on November 15 at AT&T; Stadium in Texas. Now, he's looking to move closer to his goal of getting a world title shot. The upcoming bout will be in the cruiserweight division.

Both Paul and Chavez Jr have a common opponent in Anderson Silva. Silva beat Chavez Jr by split decision in June 2021. A few months later, in October, Paul defeated Silva by decision, even scoring a knockdown.

Silva shared his thoughts on both fighters' power. About Paul, he said:

"I failed in the strategy you know, and Jake could punch. My base is not correct, that's what my coach said, but I don't feel no knockout, I don't feel power, but I'm not in good balance and that's how I take the punch. Of course I have more experience and like doing this a lot."

Silva suggested that Paul's punches weren't particularly powerful, and the knockdown was more due to his own poor balance.

When talking about Chavez Jr, Silva had a different take:

"Wow, it's strong you know he's a boxing guy, a traditional boxer, he comes from the traditional boxing family but I'm prepared for that."

Silva clearly felt Chavez Jr had more power behind his punches and noted his traditional boxing background.

For Paul to keep moving toward his world title ambitions, he'll need to win impressively against Chavez Jr. The fight promises to be a test of Paul's boxing skills against a more experienced opponent from a boxing family.

Fans can catch the action on June 28 at the Honda Center in Anaheim. It's a fight that will show if Paul has what it takes to compete at a higher level in the boxing world.
