Sugar Ray Leonard believes he'd beat Floyd Mayweather in the ring. The boxing legend made this bold claim in a recent chat with Fight Hype.

Leonard, one of the 'four kings' of boxing in the 1980s, won titles in five divisions during his career. He's known for his victories over Roberto Duran in the famous 'No Mas Fight' of 1980 and his knockout of Floyd Mayweather Sr. in 1978.

"I told Floyd that I'd beat him, I told him that already," Leonard said in the interview. "But he would tell me the same thing that he would beat me, fighters are champions, we feel we can beat anybody so you would never get a 'No' answer about that."

Despite his confidence, Leonard showed respect for Mayweather's achievements.

"But you know what, he's the best of his time, his era. I did my share, I made my name, I'm okay."

Leonard couldn't resist adding a playful jab at the end:

"I knocked his father out. Like father, like son."

Mayweather, nicknamed 'Money', retired with an undefeated record of 50-0. His 21-year career saw him become a world champion in five weight classes and win eleven major world championships. Some of his most notable victories came against Canelo Alvarez, Oscar De La Hoya, and Manny Pacquiao.

While we'll never know who would've won in their prime, both Leonard and Mayweather have cemented their places in boxing history. Their achievements and the respect they have for each other show the true spirit of champions.
