Canelo has hinted at retirement before, but this time he's put a more specific timeline on it. In a recent interview with TMZ, he shared his thoughts on when he'll call it quits.

"I've fought everybody; I've fought the best. I've won many titles in different weight classes. I've been the pound-for-pound king, fighter of the year; in everything. If we talk about money, it's never enough. But it's not just about money. It's about enjoying everything"

Alvarez isn't done just yet, though. He's got a contract with Riyadh Season for the next two years, organized by Turki Alalshikh. This deal is worth around $400 million, but Canelo insists it's not all about the cash.

"I still enjoy boxing. That's why I'm here. But if we talk about money, it's never enough. But I don't think about making a specific amount of money and then retiring; no. I'm going to do my thing, and then, at 37 or 38 years old, it's time to retire"

Before he hangs up the gloves, Canelo's got some big fights lined up. On May 3, he'll face William Scull for the IBF belt. If he wins, he'll become the undisputed 168-pound champion.

There's also talk of a mega-fight with Terence Crawford in September 2025 in Las Vegas. This could be one of Canelo's last hurrahs before he retires in 2026.

Canelo's career has been nothing short of spectacular. He's won titles in four different divisions, been named fighter of the year, and sat atop the pound-for-pound rankings. Now, with retirement on the horizon, he's looking to add a few more chapters to his legacy before calling it a day.
