Benn beat Dobson by unanimous decision in the United States. The judges scored it 119-109 and 118-110 twice in favor of the British boxer. The fight went the full 10 rounds, with Dobson not going down despite Benn's aggressive start.
Benn can't fight in the UK right now because of a failed drugs test. That's why his big fight with Chris Eubank Jr got called off.
After the fight, Dobson shared his thoughts on Benn's power. He told Tru School Sports:
"It's not a power that I've never seen before. He has power though but it's not extraordinary power. I've been in with guys where it's like what the f***k is this guy on crack or something, they hit so hard it's like super strength. He didn't have that. He was strong though, he had power, but it's not where I got hit and you think I ain't getting hit again, that type of power, but he ain't have that type of power. But he has power."
Dobson's comments come at an interesting time. Benn's got a big fight coming up in about 4 weeks. He'll face Chris Eubank Jr, his long-time rival who's naturally much bigger. The fight will be at middleweight, so Benn will need to carry his power up through the divisions.
Benn's known for coming out swinging from the first bell. He'll want to become only the second man to stop Eubank. But after Dobson's comments, some are wondering if Benn's power will be enough at the higher weight.
This was Dobson's first loss. For Benn, it's another win on his record as he looks to put the drug test controversy behind him and move forward with his career.
