Jake Paul wants to fight Anthony Joshua. The influencer-turned-boxer claims he can easily beat the former heavyweight champion and has challenged him to a bout.
Paul's popularity in boxing continues to grow, but he still lacks respect from many fellow fighters. Critics often see his matches as spectacles rather than serious boxing contests.
On a recent podcast, Paul didn't hold back his thoughts on Joshua. He said:
"I want to fight Anthony Joshua and I'm going to beat him. He has a glass chin, he has no skills, he's a clumsy fighter. I love you Anthony, we're friends, but I want to beat you and I'm going to do it."
Paul also revealed that Joshua called him, hinting that a fight between them isn't completely off the table.
The 11-1 Paul has mostly faced retired boxers or non-boxing athletes. His recent bout was against Mike Tyson, who's 30 years his senior. He's also fought Nate Diaz and Anderson Silva.
Joshua, on the other hand, is a former unified heavyweight champion and Olympic gold medalist. At 35, his record stands at 28-4. He lost his last fight to Daniel Dubois in September, getting knocked out in the fifth round of their IBF heavyweight title clash.
Joshua has faced some setbacks in recent years. He lost to Andy Ruiz in 2019 and fell twice to Oleksandr Usyk. Currently, he doesn't have a fight scheduled.
Paul seems eager to prove himself against heavyweight opponents. A match with Joshua would certainly be a step up in competition for the YouTuber-turned-boxer.
