Roy Jones Jr Delivers Blunt Verdict on Conor Benn's Chances Against Chris Eubank Jr: "He's got the power"

The fight was supposed to happen back in October 2023, but it got called off when Benn tested positive for a banned substance. Now, after a lot of back-and-forth, they're set to duke it out at 160lbs.

Roy Jones Jr, who used to train Eubank Jr, thinks Benn might have a shot at winning, even though Eubank Jr is bigger. In an interview with iFL TV, Jones said:

"This fight being like it is, I think Chris is too big, but Benn does have neutralising power and Liam Smith showed us that if you catch him right you can get him down. We don't know, we think that Eubank wins the fight, but it won't be that easy 'cause Conor can punch and can be a problem for a little while."

Jones trained Eubank Jr from 2020 until his first fight with Liam Smith in 2023. During that time, Eubank Jr beat guys like Marcus Morrison, Wanik Awdijan, and Liam Williams. But then Smith knocked him out, which was a first for Eubank Jr.

After that loss, Eubank Jr switched trainers to Brian 'BoMac' McIntyre and got his revenge on Smith with a knockout win in their rematch.

Benn, on the other hand, is moving up from welterweight for this fight. He's only had two fights in the last couple of years, both points wins against lower-level opponents, while he's been trying to clear his name after the positive drug test.

The big question is whether Benn can bring his power up to 160lbs. He's naturally smaller than Eubank Jr, so he'll need to pack a punch to even things out.

Eddie Hearn says they've already sold 60,000 tickets for the fight, so it looks like fans are pumped to see these two finally settle their grudge in the ring.
