Floyd Mayweather, the boxing legend who retired with a perfect 50-0 record, has beaten some of the best fighters in the sport's history. He's now speaking out about two of his most famous victories.
Mayweather hung up his gloves in 2017 after a career that saw him defeat big names like Manny Pacquiao and Canelo Alvarez. His undefeated record cemented his place among boxing's all-time greats.
The fight against Pacquiao in May 2015 broke records for pay-per-view buys. Many fans felt it came several years too late, but Mayweather says it was a walk in the park. In a recent video, he claimed:
"He got famous because they said this could be the guy that could possibly dethrone the king. Did it happen? Absolutely not. Was it easy? Absolutely."
Mayweather had similar words for his 2013 fight against Canelo Alvarez, which handed the Mexican star his first defeat. Speaking to FightHype.com, Mayweather didn't hold back:
"You can take a guy like Canelo. I'll tell the truth about Canelo. The mo**erf**ker was easy. A cakewalk, easy. You're all praising this dude. He was nothing. I was almost 40 and I cooked this dude, easy."
When asked to compare the two opponents, Mayweather gave the edge to Pacquiao. In an interview, he explained:
"It's because of his movement. He's a hell of a fighter, and I can see why he won so many fights, and I can see why he's going down as a Hall of Famer. It's just certain moves he makes."
While Mayweather considers these fights easy wins, others have different opinions. Top Rank CEO Bob Arum recently named a current fighter he believes would have beaten Mayweather in his prime.
