Lewis and Holyfield faced each other twice in 1999, with their first bout ending in a controversial split decision draw. Many fans and experts believed Lewis had done enough to win at Madison Square Garden that night in March. Eight months later in Las Vegas, Lewis left no doubt, securing a unanimous decision victory and becoming the undisputed heavyweight champion.
Now, 25 years after their last fight, Holyfield has expressed interest in a trilogy bout. The challenge comes as Mike Tyson prepares for his own return to the ring in November against Jake Paul.
When asked about Holyfield's call-out in an interview with Mail Sport Boxing, Lewis quickly shut down the idea:
"I don't think so. That's nice of him that he wants to get back in the ring with me. I'm not really pushing to get back in the ring with him."
Lewis didn't mention any plans to return to boxing for other opponents either. It seems the British-Canadian fighter is content with his legacy and has no desire to lace up the gloves again, even against his old rival.
