Tyson Fury's boxing career stands at a crossroads after his second loss to Oleksandr Usyk. The former heavyweight champion is now thinking about hanging up his gloves for good.
Fury's recent fights haven't gone his way. Last May, he lost his WBC title to Usyk. This past weekend, he faced Usyk again and came up short. The judges all agreed Usyk landed the better, cleaner shots, giving him a unanimous decision victory. With these wins, Usyk has become the undisputed heavyweight champion, adding to his previous achievement as the undisputed cruiserweight champion in 2018.
Carl Froch, known as 'The Cobra' during his boxing days, shared his thoughts on Fury's situation in a recent YouTube video. He said:
"Tyson, I don't know how he will take that, another loss. In the build-up when he was giving Usyk some beef, you could see that he actually has a bit of hatred for him cause he's ruined his legacy and his career. He's had back-to-back defeats, can he cope with that and retire?"
Froch hopes Fury can deal with these losses and leave the sport on a high note. He added:
"I sincerely hope he can cope with that loss, back-to-back defeats, and walk away with his chin held high and smile 'cause he's been a great character and had a great career."
Froch doesn't think a fight between Fury and Anthony Joshua at Wembley would be a big deal anymore. He believes it would draw less than 80,000 fans and called it a "battle of the losers."
Right now, Fury's taking some time to think about what's next. A fight with Anthony Joshua could be the one thing that might bring him back for one last bout. But for now, the future of "The Gypsy King" remains up in the air.
