Marco Antonio Barrera Reveals Canelo's Sole Weakness Against Benavidez: "It's The Key"

Canelo Alvarez and David Benavidez might face each other in the ring soon. Fans have wanted this fight for a while now, and boxing legend Marco Antonio Barrera thinks it's time for it to happen.

Canelo, a four-weight world champion and one of the best fighters today, will likely return to the ring in May for Cinco de Mayo. Benavidez, on the other hand, is set for a big fight in January. He'll move up to light heavyweight to take on fellow undefeated fighter David Morrell.

Barrera, who won world titles in three weight classes from super bantamweight to super featherweight, shared his thoughts on the potential Canelo-Benavidez clash with Fight Hub TV.

"Canelo is a boxer with really good qualities. A four time world champion in different divisions, but he's missing that one fight and that's Benavidez."

The Mexican legend believes this fight could cement Canelo's place in boxing history.

"I believe he could fight Benavidez, it's a clash that we want to see, where I believe people would start to give him the credibility that Canelo Alvarez has to me."

Barrera added that while Canelo is great, he needs a real challenge:

"He's a great boxer, but he needs that little push, but it's not to up him. It's up to a boxer to stand up to him and challenge him like they should."

Even Mike Tyson has weighed in on this dream match-up, though his pick for the winner wasn't shared.

With Canelo expected to fight in May and Benavidez moving up in weight this month, fans will have to wait and see if this super-fight comes together later in the year.
