The match is raising eyebrows for a few reasons. For starters, there's a huge age gap between the fighters. Jake Paul is 27, while Tyson is pushing 60. That's not the only difference, though. Tyson, once the youngest man to win a heavyweight world title, had a long and successful career that ended in 2005. Paul, on the other hand, has only had 11 fights, mostly against beginners or former MMA stars.
Tyson's health has already put the brakes on this fight once. It was supposed to happen in July 2024, but got pushed back to November because Tyson had a flare-up with an ulcer. Now, some folks are worried about whether he's fit to fight at all.
Calvin Ford, who trains Gervonta Davis, shared his thoughts with FightHype:
"I'm worried about Mike's health right now. That's the only thing. They had good promotion, good hype about the fight, so right now we just got to wait to see how Mike's health is. He's not a spring chicken either, but he is a legend."
Bob Arum, a big name in boxing promotion who worked with Tyson early on, doesn't think 'Iron Mike' has a chance. It's worth noting that Tyson hasn't had a professional fight in nearly two decades. He did have an exhibition match with Roy Jones Jr in 2020, but that's about it.
The fight is set for eight two-minute rounds. It'll be interesting to see how Tyson, who was known for his knockout power, will fare against the younger Paul. While Paul has been more active recently, he's never faced anyone with Tyson's level of experience.
As we get closer to fight night, all eyes will be on Tyson's health and fitness. Will the boxing legend be able to turn back the clock one more time? Or will Jake Paul add another big name to his growing list of wins? We'll have to wait until November to find out.
