David Benavidez Reveals Surprising Condition for Super Middleweight Return: "Only for Him"

Benavidez picked up the WBC interim title at 175lbs with that win. He's often talked about as the man who could beat Canelo in his dominant division. The Mexican superstar recently made a straightforward defense against Edgar Berlanga.

For a long time, Benavidez has been keen to make the Canelo fight happen. Canelo said he'd need $200m to get in the ring with the American, which makes the fight unlikely for now.

In an interview with Mr Organik, Benavidez named another fighter who could get him back down to super middleweight - Terence Crawford.

"I would love to get [revenge], but I just don't think he would come up. I would love to fight [Terence] Crawford, or even spar Crawford."

Crawford stopped José Benavidez Jr - David's brother - in 2018. The pound-for-pound star has said he's willing to move up to 168lbs, but only for a clash against Canelo. Crawford might hang up his gloves if he can't land that fight.

For now, Benavidez will look to make his mark at light-heavyweight. He'll have his eye on the winner of the undisputed clash between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol on October 12.
