Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez gets ready to fight Edgar Berlanga this weekend. But the boxing world wants to know about potential matches with Terence Crawford and David Benavidez.
Canelo holds three of the four major super-middleweight belts after being stripped of one earlier this year. Fans and media have put pressure on him to face Benavidez or Crawford. Canelo stays relaxed about it all. He'll consider the fights if the money's right, but he's adamant they won't add to his legacy.
When asked about Crawford, Canelo had some things to say. He told TMZ:
"I always say I respect Terence Crawford. He's a very talented fighter. He's just one big fight. If you see his record, he's just beat one good fighter – Errol Spence. He did a really good job with Spence, it almost looked very easy. I knew Terence Crawford is a great fighter."
Crawford has won titles in lightweight, super-lightweight, welterweight, and super-welterweight. He's been undisputed in two of those divisions. His record shows wins over Shawn Porter, Kell Brook, Julius Indongo, Viktor Postol, and Ricky Burns. But none of these seem to impress Canelo much.
Crawford joined Canelo in the four-weight world champion club recently. He's fought 40 times as a pro. Despite his achievements, Canelo doesn't seem too excited about a potential matchup.
Canelo stays open to the fight but seems indifferent. He said, "You never know in boxing, we'll see in the future."

Many in the sport think Crawford will retire if he can't get the Canelo fight. For now, both fighters focus on their own paths in the ring.
