Daniel Dubois, the newest world heavyweight champion, thinks Lennox Lewis would beat Tyson Fury if they fought in their primes.
The heavyweight division is as lively as it's been in years. In September, Dubois defended his IBF world title with a fifth-round stoppage of Anthony Joshua. Before that, in May, Oleksandr Usyk won a close fight against Fury for the undisputed crown - the first such bout in almost 25 years.
Dubois got his chance at the title in June when he beat Filip Hrgovic and was elevated to champion status. He followed that up with his impressive win over Joshua. Now, he's looking for his next opponent.
When asked on Pod Lounge to pick a winner between Fury and Lewis if they met in their primes, Dubois gave a simple answer:
"Lennox."
Lewis is one of the most respected heavyweights ever. He was the last British undisputed champion and the last to hold all major belts at the same time, which he did 25 years ago. He beat big names like Mike Tyson, Frank Bruno, Evander Holyfield, and Vitali Klitschko. What's more, he avenged his only two losses with knockouts over Oliver McCall and Hasim Rahman.
While Dubois is moving forward, former two-time champion Joshua has decided not to go for an immediate rematch.
The heavyweight division isn't slowing down. Usyk and Fury are deep in training camps for their rematch in December. It's shaping up to be another exciting year for boxing's big men.
