Ardreal Holmes Jr is getting ready to fight in front of his hometown crowd. The undefeated super-welterweight will face Hugo Noriega on September 12 in Flint, Michigan.
Holmes Jr, who has a record of 15 wins with 6 knockouts, will put his perfect record on the line against the Cuban fighter. The southpaw stands at 6'2" and is currently ranked 14th by the WBO. He's aiming to move closer to a world title shot with a win.
"There's nothing like fighting at home and I know on Sept. 12, there will be a raucous crowd rooting me on. When I get my 'W' over Hugo Noriega, it will put me just that much closer to my dream of winning a world title."
Noriega is coming off a unanimous decision win over Saul Corral. However, 2023 hasn't been kind to the Cuban, who suffered the first two losses of his career earlier in the year.
The fight is part of the BIG TIME BOXING series, which helps young fighters in the US develop their skills. Flint has a rich boxing history, producing champions like Chris Byrd, Anthony Dirrell, Andre Dirrell, and Claressa Shields.
Promoter Dmitry Salita is excited about the event and the local talent on display.
"Flint is the home of former heavyweight world champion Chris Byrd, Anthony and Andre Dirrell, and, of course, The GWOAT, Claressa Shields. We have never seen a crop of young and hungry fighters like the group fighting on September 12, and I feel the next US born world champion will come from right here in the Greater Detroit and surrounding areas like Flint. I am excited that those in the crowd and the viewers watching on DAZN will get to see some amazing matchups that can make or break the next chapter in these fighters' respective careers. You don't want to miss it."
The undercard will feature local fighters Jaquan McElroy and De Andre Savage in separate bouts. Both hail from Flint, adding to the hometown flavor of the event.
Fans can catch all the action on DAZN. The fight night promises to showcase some of the best up-and-coming talent in American boxing.
