Golovkin: "Alvarez is having some fights for which he gets negativity"
Former middleweight world champion Gennadiy Golovkin has spoken out about Saul Alvarez's career after the conclusion of their trilogy.
"I think what happens to Canelo after our fights will not affect his career in any way. When we had competition, he saw me as a contender and he went to this fight, started to prepare. He became what he became. If he doesn't want big competitive fights at this point.... Basically, he's doing some fights that he's getting some negativity for. I think he deserves the position he's in. And he's looking bright in these fights he's taking. If he didn't look bright, you could really be negative about him. As it is, he looks pretty bright in all of his fights.
If he has big names or competition now, and he doesn't want to box with them, it's more of a question for him specifically. And whether it will affect his achievements or not - I think not," said Golovkin in an interview with YouTube channel Mayan Tiger Sports Journalist.
