Ennis debuts in a new weight class on October 11

On October 11, former world champion in the welterweight division Jaron Ennis (34-0, 30 KO) will meet Uisma Lima (14-1, 10 KO) at a Matchroom Boxing event in Philadelphia. This fight will be a qualifier for the right to contest the WBA world title in the junior middleweight division.

This will be Ennis’s debut in the weight category up to 69 kilograms. In April, the American defeated Eimantas Stanionis, unifying the WBA and IBF titles in the welterweight division. “Boots” recently vacated both titles.

Lima last fought in May and will be making his debut in the USA for the first time in his career. If Ennis wins, he is expected to face Virgil Ortiz Jr. early next year.
