Wilder: “I was ready for the fight with Parker, although I had not trained for about a month”

Former world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (43-2-1, 42 KOs) said that he had not trained for a month before the scheduled fight with Joseph Parker (33-3, 23 KO).

“There is a rule in boxing that you always need to be ready for a fight. I was ready, even though I hadn’t trained in probably a month or something.

But you have to look back at the few months when I trained, but the fights fell through and we didn’t get what we wanted. So my body went through all kinds of boot camps that prepared me for this particular moment.

So if you cannot fulfill your duties in a short time, then you lose the opportunity. And I don’t want to miss any opportunity because it’s already easy for me to lose it because of what I did. “I would be a unified world champion by now if these guys gave me the opportunity, but no one wants to do that,” Wilder said on the 78SPORTSTV podcast.

Wilder's fight with Parker will take place on December 23 in Saudi Arabia.
