The official contender for the fight with Opetaia is Mairis Briedis, but the current International Boxing Federation champion doubts that such a fight will take place.
“I don’t know if Briedis will sign a contract. There are different scenarios possible, and I’m not ruling anything out after what I’ve experienced in recent months. I want to have another fight as soon as possible,” Opetaja said.
The 28-year-old Australian southpaw will soon become a sparring partner Tyson Fury, when the Briton begins to prepare for a unification fight with Alexander Usik.
