WBA and WBO lightweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko (12-1, 9 KOs) during a press conference in Kiev, explained why he did not knock Jose Pedraza (25-2, 12 KOs) out and what he thought immediately after knockdown in a fight with Jorge Linares (45-4, 28 KOs).
- Who was your most difficult opponent?
- Orlando Salido, because I have a defeat from him. But this is not physically, but morally the most difficult battle. All fights are really hard, you tune in, constantly focused, think about the fight, about the result. Therefore, I cannot single out the fight, which I remember as the most difficult.
- Why didn’t you knock Pedraza out?
- Everybody boxes as it his rival allows. In this battle, it turned out that I couldn’t knock him out.But everyone saw that I was close. And victory is victory.
- Can you give advice to a boxing beginner?
- Healthy nutrition, competent trainer and regimen.
- Are you satisfied with your promoter?
- Yes, completely. I, in principle, have no questions. Except, purses.
- First thought, when you were put on the fifth point in a battle with Linares?
At the time of the knockdown, I did not think about anything, I just wanted to stand up and revenge.
