Volkov is promised a title shot after the fight with Werdum

UFC heavyweight Alexander Volkov of Russia said that the leadership of the promotion had promised him a title fight in the event of a victory over former champion Fabricio Werdum. On March 17 the Russian defeated the Brazilian by knockout at the tournament UFC Fight Night 127 in London.

"Times have changed – that’s it. At the moment, Brock Lesnar is more suited to the UFC, he has a big name. I understand why the leadership gave him a title fight. Lesser known athletes like me, Tai Tuivasa, Francis Ngannou - we are really good fighters, but we do not have a big name in the US", - said Volkov.

The current heavyweight division champion Daniel Cormier is expected to meet Lesnar early next year. The battle of Lewis - Volkov will be on October 6 at the UFC 229 tournament in Las Vegas.
