Wilder vs Stiverne is watched by 824,000 viewers

Heavyweight titleholder Deontay Wilder’s electrifying, three-knockdown, first-round knockout of former titlist Bermane Stiverne in a rematch Saturday night at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, averaged a strong 824,000 viewers for the live airing on Showtime, according to Nielsen Media Research. The 2 minute, 59 second fight peaked at 887,000.

It was the second-most watched Showtime fight of 2017 behind Mikey Garcia’s decision win against Adrien Broner on July 29, which averaged 881,000 viewers (937,000 peak).

Welterweight Shawn Porter’s decision over Adrian Granados in the co-feature averaged 646,000 viewers (696,000 peak). Sergey Lipinets’ decision over Akihiro Kondo to win a vacant junior welterweight belt in the opener averaged 427,000 viewers (530,000 peak).

Earlier in the day on HBO, light heavyweight titlist Dmitry Bivol’s first defense in his HBO debut against Trent Broadhurst from Monte Carlo averaged 341,000 viewers for the one-round fight, peaking at 356,000. HBO’s prime time replay averaged 289,000 viewers (305,000 peak).
