According to ESPN, the next two fights Saul Alvarez are unlikely to make the cut with Al Haymon's Premier Boxing Champions, and Canelo is instead reportedly looking to return with Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Boxing to fight this year Edgar Berlanga And Jaime Munguia on DAZN.

Canelo Alvarez has repeatedly stated that the opponents queuing up to face him must fight each other to earn their chance. Good victory for Edgar Berlanga, who stopped this weekend Pedraiga McCrory, helped attract attention, but perhaps only David Benavidez really met that criterion, with two wins last year over Demetrius Andrade And Caleb Plant.

“I want him right now,” Berlanga (22-0, 17 KOs) said in an interview with Chris Mannix on DAZN after his first stoppage win in three years in Orlando on Saturday over Pedraig McCrory. “I need Canelo.”

“An incredible evening in Orlando, and what a statement Edgar Berlanga made! — Hearn said. — Now, number 1 in the world in super middleweight.... Mexico vs. Puerto Rico. Let's make this fight in 2024."

“It’s only a matter of time,” Hearn added. - Puerto Rico vs Mexico - it will be a huge event - Edgar Berlanga vs Canelo Alvarez. Perhaps we will have another one [before the fight with Canelo], but I’ll tell you straight... if this offer came to us, we would not miss it.”

“[Berlanga] wouldn’t be running around the ring trying to survive 12 rounds like Charlo,” Heene said. — He would have stood and fought Canelo. “He’s going to give the fans a great, great fight and that’s what the fans want to see.”
