Dustin Poirier is an American mixed martial artist born on January 19, 1989, in Lafayette, Louisiana. Raised in a working-class family, he developed a fighting spirit early in life and found direction through combat sports. Poirier began training in boxing during his teenage years before transitioning to mixed martial arts, where he quickly gained recognition for his toughness and striking skills.
Poirier made his professional MMA debut in 2009 and compiled an impressive record on the regional circuit before signing with the WEC. Following the WEC-UFC merger, he entered the UFC in 2011, where he established himself as a dynamic featherweight. In 2015, he moved up to the lightweight division, where his career flourished.
