Khamzat Chimaev didn’t let Conor McGregor’s latest jab go unanswered, blasting the former two-division UFC champion over comments suggesting Chimaev is carrying “his” belt.
Chimaev dismissed the idea outright, saying McGregor lost his title long ago and needs to get himself together. He also took aim at McGregor’s lifestyle, referencing both drugs and McGregor’s Proper No. Twelve whiskey brand.
Chimaev went a step further by calling for a fight, making it clear he would welcome the matchup regardless of whether it happens under boxing rules or not. According to Chimaev, he has already told people at Zuffa Boxing that he is ready to prove those who see him as only a wrestler are mistaken.
In his view, fans have not yet seen the full extent of his striking because MMA has not required him to rely on it. If he ever makes the move into boxing, Chimaev said, he believes he will be able to showcase that side of his game.
